Online Nikah

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might be wondering about your online Nikah.

Is an online Nikah valid in Islam?+

Yes. A Nikah is valid when its conditions are met: the free consent of both parties, two Muslim witnesses, a mahr agreed between the couple, the presence of the bride's wali (or an appointed wakeel), and the spoken offer and acceptance (Ijab & Qabul). Our imam ensures each of these is fulfilled during the live ceremony.

Is my online Nikah a legal marriage in Canada?+

An online Nikah is your religious marriage. It is not, by itself, a legal civil marriage in Canada. To be legally married you also need a marriage licence and a ceremony performed by a provincially-registered officiant. We're always upfront about this and guide you on completing the civil step. See our 'Is it legal?' page for details.

Do you provide witnesses?+

Yes — if you don't have two Muslim witnesses of your own, we can provide them on request. Just let us know in your booking.

What is a wali, and can the imam act as one?+

The wali is the bride's guardian who consents to and is present for the marriage. If a wali is unavailable, our imam can act as the wali (wali-e-hakim) where appropriate. You can request this during booking.

How quickly can we get married?+

With the Standard Online Nikah you choose your own date. If you need it urgently, our Immediate Nikah is fast-tracked and can usually be completed within 24–48 hours.

What do we need to prepare?+

Valid ID for the bride and groom, your two witnesses (or ask us to provide them), an agreed mahr, and the wali's details. If either party was previously married, please have the relevant divorce or death documentation ready.

What happens after the ceremony?+

You'll receive a digital Nikah certificate. Keep it safe — it's often useful for religious records and, in some cases, for immigration paperwork.

How do we pay?+

You can pay securely online by credit or debit card, or with PayPal. The free consultation requires no payment at all.
